Hillsboro firefighters rushed to an apartment fire after midnight but they didn't have to put it out: It was extinguished by the building's sprinkler system. The fire was caused by an electric wheelchair in one unit and was contained to that apartment.

Lake Havasu City Fire Department firefighters responded Wednesday to reports of black smoke coming from a second-story unit at a condominium complex. “Two sprinkler heads had cooled and knocked the fire down,” Battalion Chief Mike Quijada said. “The fire had started on an overstuffed chair, and we did find some drug paraphernalia." “No one was injured, and the sprinkler system did its job,” Quijada said.

Arson fire at medical center contained by sprinkler system (Englewood, CO)

An arrest was made in Englewood Friday afternoon in connection to an arson started by a burning Molotov cocktail. Police say the suspect threw the Molotov cocktail, through a window at 125 East Hampden Avenue around noon Friday. The building - which houses a Health One rehabilitation facility - has a full fire sprinkler system which contained the fire. There were no injuries.

At about 6:01 p.m., Boca Raton Fire Rescue Services Department got a 9-1-1 call reporting a fire at an apartment on the sixth floor. The fire sprinkler system had successfully activated and put out the fire. No injuries were reported.

Fire sprinklers prove their worth during fire at student housing (Conway, SC)

Unattended cooking after a power outage sparked a fire that erupted in a third floor unit of the 68 unit, four story student housing building at Carolina Coastal University. The fire was quickly extinguished by a fire sprinkler system, saving lives and property. When the fire department arrived the fire was already out. No one was hurt.
