Sprinkler saves business from overnight fire (Cottonwood, AZ)

Shortly after 1 a.m. Wednesday, Cottonwood Fire crews weresent to a business in the 1700 block of East Villa Drive. Firefighters foundthe building was full of smoke and the fire sprinkler alarm was sounding. Crewsquickly got inside the building and located the seat of the fire. The blaze hadbeen controlled by a single fire sprinkler in the ceiling. Fire damage wasisolated to the room where the fire started. Fire officials credit thesprinkler with saving the structure, furnishings and business documents fromextensive fire damage.

Sprinkler system activates, helps control fire at H-E-B grocery store (Bastrop, TX)

The Bastrop Fire Department responded to a fire call at Bastrop H-E-B on Hasler Boulevard at 9:11 p.m. Tuesday, according to Bastrop Fire Chief Henry Perry. The fire, which broke out near the aisle containing paper towels and toilet paper, took approximately 45 minutes to contain, he said. Perry said the cause of the fire was unknown as of Wednesday morning. The case is under investigation, the chief said.  “The fire protection system in the building worked like it was supposed to,” he said. “It worked perfectly.”

Sprinkler system keeps fire from spreading at grocery store (Mesa, AZ)

A small fire was big enough to force the evacuation of a Basha's grocery store in Mesa on Monday night. The fire started in one of the store's aisles about 9 p.m. and the store's sprinkler system prevented it from spreading, a Mesa Fire Department spokesman said. All customers were evacuated safely from the store near Brown Road and Mesa Drive, the spokesman said.

Sprinkler puts out residence hall fire at Texas Woman's University (Denton, TX)

A small fire in the Stark Hall residence tower on the Denton campus of Texas Woman’s University caused an evacuation Sunday night, according to a news release issued by the university. The small fire occurred in the basement laundry room and sent smoke through several floors of the building. The sprinkler system in the laundry room extinguished the fire within minutes, according to the news release. There were no injuries reported and no damage to the structure other than the laundry room.

Fire in vacant building exinguished by sprinkler system, adjacent buildings saved (Brighton, MI)

Brighton fire and police officials are investigating a trash fire at a downtown building. "When they got there, it smelled like smoke," Chief Michael O'Brian of the Brighton Area Fire Department said. "In this case, the sprinklers extinguished the fire." Firefighters found "some trash" in a mechanical room had burned, the chief explained. O'Brian said had the sprinkler system not worked, the fire could have easily burned the building at 139 E. Grand River Ave., which once housed Kathleen's Cookies, and surrounding buildings.

Sprinklers limit spread of garage fire to single-family home, no injuries (Fontanta, CA)

No injuries were reported in the blaze, which was reported at 12:25 p.m. in the 7300 block of Kamloops Avenue. The fire apparently started at an exterior fence, spread to the attached garage, and then jumped into a second story bedroom. All of the occupants of the house escaped safely. While inside, they had smelled smoke and went outside to discover the fire in the garage. The fire was extinguished in about 20 minutes, and the residence had a sprinkler system which helped protect the second story bedroom, the Fire Department said.

Fire at high-rise apartment building put out by sprinkler system (Roanoke, VA)

Some residents in Melrose Towers in Roanoke are displaced after their homes sustained water damage in a small fire Monday afternoon. No one was hurt. The fire was reported at 1:50 p.m. Monday at Melrose Towers, which is in the 3000 block of Melrose Avenue. The fire started in an eighth-floor apartment. The fire was put out by the sprinkler system in the building.

Fire in movie theater storage closet controlled by sprinkler system (Hilton Head, SC)

A storage room at a Hilton Head Island movie theater caught fire Sunday afternoon, according to Hilton Head Island Fire and Rescue spokeswoman Joheida Fister. The building's sprinkler system was activated by the fire, limiting damage to the closet where the fire started, Fister said.  All theater occupants were evacuated before Fire and Rescuearrived, and no injuries were reported.

Sprinklers help control fire at footwear warehouse (Eugene, OR)

Fire crews put out a blaze at a northwest Eugene warehouse Sunday night. About 20 Eugene-Springfield firefighters brought the fire under control at Zadehkicks footwear warehouse. "They were met by the occupant who had basically extinguished the bulk of the fire," Battalion Chief Brian Smith said. "The sprinkler system went off to finish it off. Our crews mopped it up, cleaned it up. Checked the occupant who had some smoke inhalation - but he's OK."  Investigators said the fire was accidentally caused by candles.

Kitchen fire at apartment building controlled by sprinklers (Holyoke, MA)

A sprinkler system in a Paper City apartment building did exactly what it was designed to do on Saturday after a resident left food to burn on a stove.  The alarm sent firefighters to 164 Sargeant St. just after 1 p.m. Saturday. Upon arrival, firefighters saw no outward signs of fire but the 5-story apartment building's alarm and sprinkler system were activated. An investigation determined that a tenant in an apartment left food on the stove unattended, causing the building's fire suppression system to activate. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Sprinkler controls fire at GE facility caused by malfunctioning electrical equipment (Charlottesville, VA)

Shortly before midnight on October 23, units responded to GE Intelligent Platforms, 2500 Austin Drive, for the report of a commercial structure fire. Fire crews worked to extinguish a fire in the second floor of the structure that had been controlled by the activation of one sprinkler head. There were no civilian or firefighter injuries as a result of the fire. The cause of the fire is accidental and was determined to be malfunctioning electrical equipment.

Overnight laundry fire at Recreational Sports Facility extinguished by sprinkler system (Berkeley, CA)

Berkeley Fire Department responded to a fire in the Recreational Sports Facility’s laundry room early Saturday morning. The fire started in a clothes dryer in the basement of Haas Pavilion and then spread to a nearby cart, activating the sprinkler system, according to Berkeley Fire Department Deputy Chief Avery Webb. While firefighters received a call about the incident at 3:02 a.m., it had already been put out by the time they arrived, according to Webb.

Market fire quelled by sprinkler system (Victorville, CA)

The San Bernardino County Fire Department says it received a fire alarm activation call Thursday about the same time a paramedic crew reported smoke coming from the roof of the Pueblo Ranch Market in Victorville.  A Fire Department statement says arriving units evacuated about 100 people who were unaware of any problem. The fire was found to be in a second-floor electrical box and had set off a single sprinkler head, which checked the fire until firefighters could bring hose lines in and fully extinguish it. No one was injured.

Animal hospital fire extinguished by sprinkler system - no animals hurt (San Antonio, TX)

Firefighters say a dryer at the Becker Animal Hospital off I-10 caught fire early Friday morning. The sprinkler system put out the fire.  Although there was some damage to the facility, none of the animals were hurt.

Fire officials credit sprinkler system with minimizing damage in school fire (Bozeman, MT)

The Rae and Sourdough Fire Departments were dispatched to the Heritage Christian School for a fire alarm at 5:09 a.m. A deputy was first on the scene and advised there was heavy smoke in the building. The fire was declared under control at 6:37 a.m. and there were no injuries reported.

The fire department reports that the fire and associated damage was minimized because of the fire sprinkler and alarm system installed during the last remodel of the building. On Aug. 25, 2012, the school sustained significant damage in arson-related fire.

Fire at University of Illinois laboratory extinguished by sprinkler system (Champaign, IL)

Nobody was hurt in a fire at a University of Illinois laboratory on Wednesday afternoon. Urbana Fire Marshal Phil Edwards said firefighters were called to Roger Adams Laboratory (600 S. Mathews Ave.) at 4:13 p.m. We got a call that somebody reported smoke and flames coming from a closet in one of the rooms,” Edwards said.  By the time firefighters arrived, the building’s sprinkler system had already put out the fire, he said. Since the fire took place in an electrical closet, firefighters believe that electrical problems may have been the cause.

Fire sprinkler system saves Chevrolet dealership from significant damage (Medford, OR)

A sprinkler prevented what could have been millions of dollars in damage when a fire broke out at Airport Chevrolet early today, fire officials said. Medford Fire-Rescue reported crews responded to a fire alarm at the business, 3001 Biddle Road, at 7:24 a.m.  A sprinkler had activated, controlling the spread of flames, but there was still a small fire in the workshop area, which crews snuffed by 7:38 a.m. There were no injuries reported

Unattended cooking fire extinguished by sprinkler system at Oasis Grand Destinations Resort (Mesquite, NV)

Two people were transported to Mesa View for evaluation of smoke inhalation after an unattended pot with oil and water in it caught fire Saturday evening at the Oasis Grand Destinations Resort. The entry team reported that the fire was out and that multiple sprinkler heads had been activated. The automatic sprinklers extinguished the fire and limited the fire damage to the stove top and some cabinets immediately above the stove. Upon searching the unit, firefighters discovered a 47 year old male face down and unconscious in the bedroom.  It is believed that he had an underlying medical condition which prevented him from responding to the fire and evacuating from the building.  His 8 year old son was also transported to Mesa View as a precaution in stable condition.

Sprinkler system keeps fire contained at four-story senior living complex (Woodbridge, VA)

Prince William County Department of Fire and Rescue responded to a fire in a four-story senior living apartment complex in Woodbridge, Va. Monday morning. There was smoke and fire on the first floor dining room area when crews got to the scene. Some of the furniture caught on fire and the smoke spread throughout the first floor and to the other floors above, the fire department said. The sprinkler system went off, which kept the fire from spreading while crews were able to put out the fire. Nobody was injured in the incident. Residents were able to evacuate the building safely.

Fire at Menards store put out by sprinkler system, suspect being held (Evansville, IN)

EvansvillePolice and fire departments were called out to the eastside Menards shortlyafter 4:00 pm for a fire in the back section of the store. Investigators saythe store's sprinkler system immediately activated and put out the flames. EPD confirms one employee was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.A Robards, Kentucy man is behind bars, accused of starting the fire.

Sprinkler system acts quickly to extinguish apartment fire (Pembroke, MA)

A small fire at a Pembroke Woods apartment building recently forced residents to evacuate, but was put out by the building’s sprinkler system. At about 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 14, a fire was reported.  Pembroke Fire Chief Jim Neenan said the fire took place in one room of the apartment, where the resident had improperly disposed of a cigarette.  No one was hurt in the fire.

Another apartment building saved by fire sprinkler system (Pullman, WA)

A kitchen stove and cabinets in a third floor apartment in Pullman were damaged when a pot on a stove caught fire about 2:30 p.m. Saturday. It was extinguished by the building's sprinkler system, the fire department reported.  No injuries reported.  The unit was occupied by a family of three.

Overnight fire at manufacturing business held in check by sprinkler system (St. Charles, IL)

The St. Charles Fire Department responded to an activated fire alarm at 4:15 a.m. at Eifeler-Lafer Inc., located at 3800 Commerce Drive. The company provides steel and carbide coating, which is used in making tools and medical devices. The business was closed at the time of the fire and no employees or other occupants were inside.  An overhead sprinkler helped keep the fire in check and firefighters were able to extinguish the rest in about 30 minutes. No firefighters were injured.

Sprinkler system activates to help control fire at paper company (Williamsport, MD)

The Maryland Paper Company in Williamsport is recoveringThursday after machinery caught fire late Wednesday night.  According to Deputy Chief State Fire MarshalJason Mowbray, the fire originated in a 2011 JCB Front End Loader, which isused to manipulate and handle paper for the products the company creates. Thefire then spread to the flammable products nearby. There were no injuriesreported, and the only damage the company sustained was the loss of the FrontEnd Loader and the replacement of the sprinkler head system.

Residents of historic apartment building saved with help from fire sprinkler system (Minneapolis, MN)

Four people escaped an apartment fire in Minneapolis overnight. Crews say the fire broke out around 11 p.m. Wednesday on the third floor of the Stonehouse Square Apartments on the 200 block of Broadway Street Northeast. The fire was contained to one unit and was extinguished by a sprinkler system in the apartment complex, firefighters say. The fire chief says the fire appears to have started on the stove.

Automatic fire sprinkler system helps minimize damage in apartment fire (Brattleboro, VT)

A fire that originated inside a Western Avenue building early Thursday morning left only one room and part of the roof damaged. The building was totally occupied at the time of the fire, Brattleboro Fire Chief Mike Bucossi said. According to Bucossi, the fire started where the vent pipe furnace comes off the pellet furnace. It traveled up the wall and into the attic space.  "Two of the sprinkler heads activated and it really helped to contain the fire," said Bucossi. "It made a big difference in the overall outcome of how serious this fire could have been."

Kitchen apartment fire extinguished by sprinkler system (Elkton, MD)

A stove-top fire caused about $7,500 damage to an apartment building in Elkton, Maryland, fire officials said Wednesday. The fire was reported about 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in an apartment under renovation in a three-story building formerly known as The Ritz, said Oliver J. Alkire, senior deputy state fire marshal. A sprinkler system put out the first-floor fire before firefighters arrived.  No injuries were reported.

Arson fire at high school controlled with help from sprinkler system (Norcross, GA)

One Gwinnett County high school student is out of jail on bond but the other remains on an immigration hold after their misguided prank at Meadowcreek High School backfired and got them charged with arson and committing a terroristic act. They are accused of setting toilet paper on fire in school bathrooms in September.  The fire caused the school sprinkler system to go off.

Fire sprinklers suppress fire and limit damage in apartment fire (Denton, TX)

At 6:30 p.m., the Denton Fire Department responded to an apartment fire. Upon arrival, fire crews discovered light smoke coming from the doorway, and the fire had already been suppressed by a fire sprinkler in the apartment's kitchen. The resident of the apartment claimed the fire began as a result of a cooking fire on the stove top, and the occupant tried to retrieve the fire extinguisher when the sprinkler activated and extinguished the flames.  No injuries were reported.

A gas leak caused a fire in the laundry at the Hawthorn Suites, Vandalia. Fire crews say gas leaking from a broken gas line was ignited by the hot water heater. Fire crews partially evacuated the building. Officials say the sprinkler system activated and extinguished the flames before firefighters arrived. No one was injured in the fire.

Sprinkler system puts out fire at DoubleTree hotel (Tucson, AZ)

An afternoon fire began on the sixth floor of a hotel on October 16. The hotel was equipped with fire sprinklers, which activated in the room where the fire began and suppressed the flames. The cause of the fire is under investigation, and the Tucson Fire Department is unsure if anyone was in the hotel room when the fire broke out. No injuries were reported.

Arson fire suppressed by sprinkler system (Wisbech, UK)

Wisbech fire crews responded to a fire at a residential building on Wednesday at approximately 10:15 p.m. The fire, which began in the bedroom, was eliminated by the room's fire sprinkler before fire crews arrived. 

Group Commander Chris Parker said, "Had the building not been fitted with a sprinkler system, the fire would have caused significant damage to this residential building, costing thousands of pounds and causing huge disruption and upset for those living there." 

The fire's cause is arson, and a 12-year old girl has been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the incident. No injuries were reported.

Three fires extinguished thanks to sprinkler systems (Las Cruces, NM)

Over the last three weeks, fire sprinklers have eliminated three separate apartment fires in Las Cruces - September 26, October 3, and October 7. In every single one of the fires, the cause was unattended cooking, and in two of the incidents, the residents were not aware that the fire had begun. According to the Las Cruces Fire Department, the sprinklers activation in each of the incidents kept property losses minimal and prevented any injuries.

Sprinklers help control fire in commercial office building (Anaheim, CA)

Firefighters have put out a structural fire at Anaheim Corporate Office Plaza, across the street from Angel Stadium on East Orangewood Avenue.  Firefighters responded at 6:17 p.m. on Monday after an alarm company for the plaza noticed that its sprinkler system had been activated, a fire official said.  There were no injuries reported.

Firefighters credit sprinkler system for controlling fire at manufacturing plant (Temple, TX)

Crews responded to a fire Saturday afternoon at the Lock Joint Tube manufacturing plant in Temple. When crews got there they found employees had already evacuated the building. When they went inside, they found one fire sprinkler head flowing water close to machinery which had a small amount of fire underneath. Crews put out the flames and credit the fire sprinkler system with keeping the fire from spreading.

Sprinkler system contains truck fire at City of Dayton garage (Dayton, OH)

Dayton crews were dispatched just before 5:30 p.m. Saturday. The sprinkler system in the City of Dayton garage at the public works facility worked as designed in containing the vehicle fire to the one heavy-duty truck, Dayton Fire Chief and Director Jeffrey Payne said.  The sprinkler system had knocked out the flames by the time firefighters arrived, he said.  An investigator was called to the scene as a matter of standard department protocol, as Payne said it appears no one was in the building when the fire erupted under the truck's hood.

Sprinkler system assists firefighters, limits damage in fire at large auto repair facility (Fontana, CA)

Employees from the business next door to the blaze arrived at work at 5 a.m. and reported a fire visible from the shop, one of several businesses within a large metal building in the 14900 block of Ceres Avenue. The building sprinkler system had activated, helping keep the fire contained while crews forced entry.  No injuries were reported, and adjacent business were not damaged.

The break-in and fire occurred sometime Tuesday night at the Main Street Center, a two-level building along the town’s main east-west thoroughfare that has about 15 tenants.  No one was in the building at the time the sprinklers went off, which was about 11 p.m., she said.

Sprinkler system activates, helps control overnight fire at apartment building (Nashville, TN)

Several residents have been displaced by a fire that began in an east Nashville apartment building Wednesday morning.  It started at about 2 a.m. at the Bellwood Park Apartments on 100 Pennington Avenue.  Preliminary reports indicated the fire could have been due to a lightning strike but fire marshals will have to complete their investigation before that can be confirmed.  There were no injuries reported from the fire.

Sprinkler system helps contain fire at psychiatric hospital (Morris Plains, NJ)

Firefighters responded to a fire in a patient's bedroom at Greystone Park Psychiatric Hospital Wednesday evening at 6:18 p.m. after receiving a report of a smoke condition in one of the second-floor bedroom's in the F-wing of the hospital, Mount Tabor Assistant Fire Chief Bryan Crawford said. Crawford said the sprinkler system was able to limit the spread of the fire to the room itself.

Kitchen fire at senior living facility suppressed by sprinkler system (Rochester Hills, MI)

No one was injured as a result of the fire, which was reported around 7:20 p.m. at the "Waltonwood at University" senior living facility.  The fire occurred in the north wing of the independent living building and resulted in a precautionary evacuation of nearly 30 apartments. The Rochester Hills Fire Department has deemed the fire accidental and said an item left on an electric stove caught fire and spread to a cabinet above the stove. Canto said the facility’s sprinkler system kept the fire from spreading further.

Sprinklers helps extinguish overnight fire at Toll Brothers' plant (Morrisville, PA)

A Morrisville factory escaped serious damage Tuesday morning after a machine malfunction started a fire in a ventilation system that collects sawdust.  The accidental fire occurred shortly after midnight at a Toll Brothers' construction plant, which makes panels for the builder’s homes.The fire forced the evacuation of the plant, but the business’ sprinkler system started putting out the fire before firefighters arrived and finished the job, Morrisville Fire Marshal Robert Seward said.

Fire at Mississippi State University dormitory contained by sprinkler system (Starkville, MS)

Mississippi State University officials say repairs are beginning immediately on a women's dormitory that was damaged by a Sunday night fire that appears to have been started by a candle burning in one of the rooms. The university said nobody was injured, but more than 150 students stayed elsewhere Sunday night after a fire began around 8 p.m. in one wing of Oak Hall, which opened in 2012. Local fire officials said the fire on the third story of the four-story building appears to have been caused by a candle burning in one of the rooms, and it was contained by sprinklers.

Sprinkler extinguishes apartment grease fire (Scottsdale, AZ)

A man sustained minor burns on his arm from a small grease fire in his Scottsdale apartment Sunday evening, authorities said.  The fire was extinguished by a sprinkler head in the apartment, near 70th Street in downtown Scottsdale, according to a Scottsdale Fire Department spokesman.

Sprinklers contain fire in apartment with mentally and physically challenged residents (Knoxville, TN)

The Knoxville Fire Department says the blaze started around 2 a.m. at the Parkridge Harbor Apartments. When crews arrived, smoke was found coming from a burning mattress in a common area laundry room on the second floor of the building.  According to officials, an automatic sprinkler had activated, keeping the fire at a minimum.

The two-alarm fire started just after 11 p.m. at the Senter Foods market in South San Jose, and firefighters brought the blaze under control shortly after midnight. Kitchen fire extinguished by sprinkler system at senior apartment complex (Huntsville, TX)

A kitchen fire Friday afternoon led to the forced evacuation of at least 42 people from the National Church Residence Parkview Place senior living center in downtown Huntsville. Firefighters responded to a call in the 1100 block of Avenue N after residents reported smelling smoke.

“About 3 p.m. we got a call of the smell of smoke at the Parkview assisted-living facility,” Huntsville assistant fire chief John Hobbs said. “We arrived around 3:05 p.m. The building’s sprinkler system had already extinguished any fire. Ventilators were required, however, to ventilate the building of smoke.”

A small fire in a break room at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport set off smoke detectors and a sprinkler above Gate G-1, causing some minor disruption before operations returned to normal. "It was a small stove fire in a storage and break area," MSP spokesman Patrick Hogan said Monday. The fire was in an employee-only area, one floor above the public concourse used by passengers.

Sprinkler system activates in off-campus apartment building fire (East Lansing, MI)

No one was hurt but a dozen apartment units were damaged by the fire Sunday evening at the Landings at Chandler Crossings apartment complex, located off campus from Michigan State University.  East Lansing Fire Marshal Gerald Rodabaugh said the fire remains under investigation.  An alarm system in the building was triggered and caused occupants to flee the building. Firefighters evacuated others. A sprinkler system in the building also was activated, officials said.  No one was injured.

Sprinkler system helps control fire at Cargill Grain Mill (Ogden, UT)

A fire broke out Thursday afternoon at the top of the Cargill Grain Mill near G Avenue and 27th Street. Seven emergency vehicles responded to the scene at about 4:20 p.m. after smoke was initially seen near the top of the structure. A fire had broken out on the ninth floor, a flour processing area, the Ogden Fire Department reported. All employees were evacuated from the mill with no injuries. A sprinkler system was activated as crews from the Ogden and Roy fire departments worked on the blaze. The cause of the fire is still being determined by investigators.

Sprinklers keep fire from spreading in apartment - no injuries (Olympia, WA)

No one was injured in an Olympia apartment fire Wednesday afternoon, according to the Olympia Fire Department.  Firefighters responded to a fire at the Woodland Park Apartments, located on the 800 block of Yauger Way SW, at about 3:30 p.m. The fire started in a kitchen, but hadn’t spread thanks to the building’s sprinkler system, according to Deputy Chief Gary Wright. The fire was extinguished quickly, and smoke and water damage were limited to the one apartment, Wright said. The fire likely started when food in the oven or on the stove was left unattended.

Arson fire at Yale University bookstore controlled by building's sprinkler system (New Haven, CT)

On Monday, the bookstore called in Fire Investigators to investigate an arson fire. According to a statement issued by NHPD spokesman David Hartman, after reviewing the store’s security footage, the police found the suspect lighting several fires throughout the bookstore with a lighter. The fire in the bathroom also triggered the bookstore’s sprinkler system, helping to limit the damage.

Super 8 Motel fire extinguished by automatic fire sprinkler system (San Antonio, TX)

A fire forced evacuations at a motel on San Antonio's Southeast Side Friday morning. Two rooms were destroyed at the Super 8 in the 700 block of Hot Wells Boulevard near Interstate 37, a San Antonio Fire Department representative said. Hotel staff evacuated everyone in the motel and the sprinkler system kicked on well before firefighters arrived. Firefighters say the fire was actually out before they even got there. They went around checking for hot spots and called a second alarm as a precautionary measure. No one was hurt. Fire department investigators have ruled the fire accidental.

Fire controlled by sprinkler system at Hotel Breakers in Cedar Point Amusement Park (Sandusky, OH)

Firefighters were called to the Cedar Point hotel around 12:45 p.m. when a fire broke out on the tenth floor, Sandusky fire Chief Dave Degnan said. The building's sprinkler system was able to contain the blaze until crews arrived and extinguished it completely, Degnan said. There is no visible damage on the hotel's exterior, but it remains to be seen how much was damaged inside. Degnan is at the scene, but was still unsure if the fire broke out in a linen closet or in an individual hotel room.

Sprinkler system contains fire to one room at senior apartment complex (Saskatoon, SK)

A kitchen fire prompted the evacuation of a seniors apartment complex Wednesday afternoon.  The Saskatoon Fire Department was called to the apartment building at 2315 20th Street West just after 1:30 p.m.  Crews found smoke on the fourth floor of the building before locating the fire in a single suite. The building’s sprinkler system was able to contain the blaze to one room, the fire department said in a media release.  The blaze started during a tenant move. A plastic container left on a stove caught fire after a stove element was accidentally turned on.  Damage is estimated at $40,000. No one was injured during the incident.

Early morning restaurant fire suppressed by sprinkler system (Charleston, SC)

Fire crews were notified of a fire at a restaurant on Monday afternoon. According to Ryan Kunitzer, the community educator for the Charleston Fire Department, the building was equipped with fire sprinklers, which kept the fire from spreading. Employees were on the scene during the incident, but no injuries were reported. The fire's cause is under investigation.
