Sprinklers assist firefighters at condominium fire (Bath Township, Ohio)

Fire crews responded to a fire alarm call on Friday morning at a manufacturing plant and found heavy smoke on the ground floor as well as the roof of the building. The fire sprinkler system activated and contained the fire; fire crews were able to put out the fire within 30 minutes. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and all personnel evacuated the premises safely.

Sprinklers control assisted living facility fire (Trotwood, OH)

Thirty-five residents were evacuated safely and temporarily when a fire began in an assisted living facility on Sunday. The fire started in a dryer in the facility's laundry room, and the installed fire sprinklers kept the fire from spreading until fire crews arrived to put out the remaining flames. No residents were injured or displaced because of the incident.

High school fire put out by sprinklers (Kyle, TX)

Despite the fact that a fire erupted at a high school on Thursday night, classes resumed on Friday. The fire, which began in an oven in the economics classroom, was eliminated by the school's fire sprinkler system. According to officials, no injuries occurred.

Sprinklers keep fire from spreading into apartment building (Wilmington, NC)

A fire erupted in a work van and threatened to spread into the neighboring apartment building on Thursday afternoon. Sprinklers assist firefighters in retirement home fire (Tucson, AZ)

A three-story retirement home reported a fire the morning of Friday, May 16. Smoke filled the first floor, and firefighters responded to the water flow alarm at the building. The facility was equipped with fire sprinklers, which extinguished most of the fire; firefighters arrived and put out the rest. A fire inspector reported that the cause of the fire was accidental; oil soaked towels spontaneously ignited because of a chemical reaction. There were no injuries reported.

Dry cleaning business fire halted by sprinklers (Weymouth, MA)

Fire crews were alerted to a fire at a dry cleaner on Sunday night. After breaking down the front windows and encountering heavy smoke, they found the fire contained by the building's fire sprinkler and quickly doused the remaining flames.

"The combination of the quick work of the fire department and the working sprinkler system confined the fire damage to the business of origin," said Weymouth Fire Department fire prevention coordinator, Justin Myers.

There were no injuries reported, and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Sprinklers save lives and property at manufacturing facility fire (Middlebury, IN)

After some equipment caught on fire at a wood manufacturing facility early Friday morning, four area fire departments arrived to fight the flames. 

Middlebury Fire Chief Jeff Wogoman said, "I figured we'd have a beast on our hands, but it went pretty smooth."

The facility was equipped with fire sprinklers, which contained the the flames. 

"If they didn't have a sprinkler system, it probably would have burned down," Chief Wogoman said. "That's what saved the building - that early control of the fire."

Condominium complex fire eliminated by sprinkler (Charleston, SC)

Fire sprinklers put out a fire in a condominium complex on Thursday night. The fire began in the kitchen when the tenant left something cooking on the stove unattended; firefighters were called to the scene at 10:06 p.m. When they entered the premises, they reported that the fire had already been eliminated by the building's fire sprinkler system. 

According to Fire Marshal Mike Julazadeh, the fire would have been much worse without a working smoke alarm and sprinkler system.

Sprinklers extinguish fire at newspaper printing press (Madison, WI)

At about 6 p.m. on Friday, May 9, a fire was reported at a newspaper printing press. The fire began in the building's compressor room, and the fire sprinkler system contained the fire to that room and extinguished it. The company evacuated its near 35 employees safely, and the exact cause of the fire is under investigation.

High rise apartment fire put out by sprinkler system (Hinsdale, IL)

Fire sprinklers helped to save residents of a 17-story apartment building from injury on Tuesday evening. A fire began in the kitchen of one of the residences on the sixth floor, and the occupants escaped without injury. Several surrounding fire crews responded to the fire to find that a single fire sprinkler had put out the fire.

Hinsdale Assistant Chief Tim McElroy said, "Sprinkler systems save lives and protect property. In this case, it saved many lives and helped protect this building for what could have been a major catastrophe."

Sprinklers make the difference in fire at retail store (College Station, TX)

A mid-morning fire was reported in the storage room of a retail store on Thursday, May 7. Fire crews responded within a few minutes to the scene, and they found that the fire had been contained to a small area by the building's fire sprinklers. The first responders were able to quickly put out the rest of the fire. No injuries were reported in the incident, and the cause of the College Station Fire Marshal's office determined that the fire was caused by the failure of a control wire in the HVAC system.

Sprinklers prevent damage and injury in arson fire at apartment (Salt Lake City, UT)

Police and fire crews were called to a fire at an apartment complex on Saturday at about 3 a.m. The fire was set intentionally by the resident when she set her bed on fire. The fire sprinkler in the apartment unit contained the flames. According to the Salt Lake City fire officials, the sprinklers prevented a potentially deadly situation. No injuries were reported.

Apartment fire stopped by sprinklers (Niles, MI)

An fire erupted in the unit of an apartment on Friday morning, and firefighters were dispatched to the scene. The fire sprinkler activated in that unit, eliminating the fire before the fire crews arrived. 

Niles Fire Chief Larry Lamb said that there was minor minor smoke and fire damage thanks to the fire sprinkler. 

"You can see that the damage is a lot less extensive when we have sprinkler systems in place to protect our occupants." Lamb said.

The fire was caused when the resident of the unit accidentally caught a vinyl shower curtain on fire with a match.

At about 8:30 p.m. on Friday, May 2, a fire broke out on the ninth floor of a housing complex which houses mostly elderly or disabled tenants. The fire was quickly extinguished by the facility's fire sprinkler system, and there were no reported injuries.

A machine caught on fire in a manufacturing facility on Friday night at about 10:15 p.m. No personnel were inside the building at the time of the fire, but the facility's fire sprinkler system activated and controlled the fire until fire crews arrived in response to the fire alarm. Sprinklers save property and lives in apartment fire (Fergus Falls, MN)

At about 4:20 p.m. on Thursday, a grease fire began in the kitchen of an apartment. The residents, a mother and her two children, were able to evacuate without injury as the fire sprinkler activated and squelched the fire. 

Fire Chief Mark Hovland said about the incident, "The fire sprinkler did its job. It could've been a lot worse if that sprinkler head would not have been in there."

Office high rise fire doused by sprinklers (Shreveport, LA)

A fire began in a heating, air conditioning, and ventilation closet in a 21-story high rise building shortly after noon on Wednesday. The sprinkler system was activated, which eliminated the fire, and by 1:30 p.m. employees who were evacuated were then allowed back in the building. Investigators are determining the exact cause of the fire.
