Fire in jail laundry room contained by sprinkler system (Durham, NC)

“It turns out there was one dryer in the laundry room on fire,” Maj. Paul Martin of the Durham County Sheriff’s Office. “The fire burned out and set off the sprinkler system. We have some water and smoke damage in the jail and several hundred uniforms that have to be washed.”

Required no evacuation. No one was injured.

Sprinkler system contained dead Christmas tree fire (Vancouver, BC)

Vancouver fire starts from dead Christmas tree left near barbecue. Fire broke out on a second story balcony. The fire spread to the balcony above, and the sprinklers went off. There were no injuries at the fire.

Sprinkler System Helped to Extinguish Retirement Community Fire (St. Charles, MO)

According to authorities, the fire started in an individual kitchen unit. A female resident, 80, was cooking breakfast and caught something on fire. The fire caused the sprinkler system to activate.

Electric Car Company Fire Snuffed Out By Sprinkler System (Palo Alto, CA)

A one-alarm fire broke out Wednesday morning at Tesla Motors in Palo Alto, but the flames were extinguished by a sprinkler system, a fire official said. They found an alarm blaring and light smoke wafting from Building 23, Conn said. A sprinkler system, however, had snuffed out the fire.

Fire officials say Lunenburg condo fire proves residential sprinklers save lives (Boston, MA)

In a joint statement, State Fire Marshal Stephen D. Coan and Lunenburg Fire Chief Scott Glenny said a single sprinkler head at in a unit at 69 Royal Fern Dr. doused the fire almost before Lunenburg firefighters had left the firehouse.
