Sprinklers save lives and property at manufacturing facility fire (Middlebury, IN)

After some equipment caught on fire at a wood manufacturing facility early Friday morning, four area fire departments arrived to fight the flames. 

Middlebury Fire Chief Jeff Wogoman said, "I figured we'd have a beast on our hands, but it went pretty smooth."

The facility was equipped with fire sprinklers, which contained the the flames. 

"If they didn't have a sprinkler system, it probably would have burned down," Chief Wogoman said. "That's what saved the building - that early control of the fire."

Condominium complex fire eliminated by sprinkler (Charleston, SC)

Fire sprinklers put out a fire in a condominium complex on Thursday night. The fire began in the kitchen when the tenant left something cooking on the stove unattended; firefighters were called to the scene at 10:06 p.m. When they entered the premises, they reported that the fire had already been eliminated by the building's fire sprinkler system. 

Sprinklers extinguish fire at newspaper printing press (Madison, WI)

At about 6 p.m. on Friday, May 9, a fire was reported at a newspaper printing press. The fire began in the building's compressor room, and the fire sprinkler system contained the fire to that room and extinguished it. The company evacuated its near 35 employees safely, and the exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
