Sprinkler contains restaurant fire (Appleton, WI)

A fire sprinkler kept a restaurant blaze at bay Thursday morning.  At about 4:30 a.m., a fire alarm called firefighters to Pullmans restaurant in Appleton where they found smoke and a small fire in a storage room, Battalion Chief Darrel Baker, of the Appleton Fire Department, said. The fire appeared to have started in a bin of dirty uniforms, but the cause is unknown. The fire damage will not affect lunch service at the restaurant, which opens at 11 a.m., Pullmans general manager said.

Fire at apartment complex controlled by sprinkler system (Murfreesboro, TN)

Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department’s District 9 responded to a kitchen fire at Victory Station Apartments just before 7:30 Tuesday evening.  When crews arrived to the apartment complex, the fire was already extinguished by the sprinkler system. Two families were displaced due to water damage, but did not require assistance from the Red Cross.

According to Captain/Shift Inspector Mark McCluskey, the fire appeared to have started in the kitchen area. “The sprinkler system kept fire damage to a minimum,” McCluskey said.
No one was injured during this incident.

Fire extinguished by sprinkler system at condominium complex (Auburn, WA)

A fire was reported in a dryer in a condominium unit on the afternoon of Saturday, October 26. The condominium's fire sprinkler system put out the fire, and no one was injured.

Sprinkler system aids firefighters in suspicious fire at grocery store (Phoenix, AZ)

Three separate fire appear to have been intentionally in a grocery store at about 8 p.m. on Monday, October 28. The sprinklers in the building were activated by the heat from the fire and kept the fire from spreading. Investigators are calling the fire suspicious, and the investigation remains ongoing. No injuries were reported.

Fire contained by sprinkler system at lumber mill (Lincoln, CA)

A late night fire at a lumber mill was called in by the plant's security personnel on Sunday, October 27. The building's fire sprinkler system contained the blaze until firefighters arrived to put out the rest of the fire. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Sprinklers control fire in parking garage (Lexington, KY)

A fire began during the early morning hours of October 25 in a parking garage located beneath a condominium complex. The fire sprinklers and alarms were activated, and the sprinklers contained the fire until the fire crews came to the scene and eliminated it completely. No injuries were reported in the incident.

Damage minimized at four-story apartment building thanks to fire sprinklers (Portland, ME)

An unattended stove while cooking was the cause of a fire which began in a second-floor apartment on Friday, October 25. Firefighters arrived to the scene at about 10 p.m. and praised the building's fire sprinkler system, with Fire Chief David Jackson saying that the fire could have been much very dangerous had it not been for the sprinkler system. 

"The systems worked exactly as they should have," Jackson said.

Fire sprinkler system extinguished midday fire at hospital (Philadelphia, PA)

No one was injured as a result of a fire that broke out at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. HUP also continued to see patients while the situation was ongoing. The fire began at around 12 p.m. in the basement of the Founders Building, when construction workers were removing medical equipment from one of the rooms. When the fire broke out, the fire sprinklers were able to quickly put it out, Vice President for Public Safety Maureen Rush said. The basement room in the Founders Building where the fire originated suffered “minimal damages,” according to Rush.

Macy's flagship Manhattan store saved with help from sprinkler system (New York City, NY)

The fire broke out at the iconic Macy’s store a little after eight and the store was filled with shoppers. Everyone got out without injury and folks were let back in to collect their personal belongings once the fire was extinguished. The blaze was in the basement and the store’s sprinkler system kept the blaze from spreading onto the upper floors of the store. It was the store's sprinklers that actually saved the store because it stopped the fire from spreading.

Sprinklers help to control fire at Harris Teeter store (Wilmington, NC)

The Wilmington Fire Department says sprinklers helped crews quickly controlled the fire at the store at 820 S. College Rd.  A WFD spokesman says the fire started with welding on the roof.  No one was hurt.

Tanning salon fire doused by sprinkler system (Amherst, MA)

An early Saturday morning fire in a University Drive tanning salon was put out by an automatic sprinkler system before firefighters arrived on scene. Assistant Fire Chief Lindsay Stromgren said no one was in the business when the fire started. An automatic alarm sounded at 1:37 a.m. Saturday alerting the Fire Dept. But, by the time fire apparatus arrived at the salon, the automatic sprinkler system put out the flames in a small utility room.

Sprinkler systems helps control flames at industrial facility (Troy, MI)

A wall was blown out, but no injuries were reported at the scene of a fire on Thursday night.  According to a press release issued Friday, firefighters saw a portion of the rear, west side wall that appeared to have blown out from an explosion inside the building, and smoke showing. Once inside, firefighters found heavy smoke conditions, but the building’s fire sprinkler system appeared to have contained the majority of the fire. Damage was confined to the rear warehouse portion of the building. None of the nearby businesses were affected as a result of the incident.

A resident of an apartment was cooking when grease spilled on the stovetop, and the grease then caught on fire. Fire crews were called to the apartment complex, and when they arrived, they discovered that the building's fire sprinkler had eliminated the fire. No one was injured in the fire.

Sprinklers make the difference in home fire (Middletown, CT)

Fire crews arrived to a single family home after having been called to a fire during the early morning hours of Tuesday, October 21. Investigators reported that the fire, which began in the wall next to a fireplace, was contained and eliminated by the home's fire sprinkler system. No one was injured in the incident.

There were no injuries in a fire that occurred in an apartment on Monday, August 21. A resident was cooking that afternoon when the fire erupted near the stove, which then set off the building's fire sprinklers. The sprinkler system contained the fire to the kitchen and put out the flames.
