Restaurant grease fire contained by sprinkler system (Gainesville, FL)

Alachua County Fire Marshal Mark Smith said the fire was caused by a pot with grease that had been put on a range to cool.   The fire activated a sprinkler system, which kept the fire from causing more damage, Smith said.  The fire was contained to the kitchen area.  “If the sprinkler system hadn't been installed, things would have been a lot worse,” Smith said.
