Wisbech fire crews responded to a fire at a residential building on Wednesday at approximately 10:15 p.m. The fire, which began in the bedroom, was eliminated by the room's fire sprinkler before fire crews arrived.
Group Commander Chris Parker said, "Had the building not been fitted with a sprinkler system, the fire would have caused significant damage to this residential building, costing thousands of pounds and causing huge disruption and upset for those living there."
The fire's cause is arson, and a 12-year old girl has been arrested on suspicion of involvement in the incident. No injuries were reported.
