Sprinklers do their job after lighting causes fire at Old Town Hall (Exeter, NH)

A lightning strike from a quick-moving storm early Tuesday morning caused the fire at the old Town Hall, according to firefighters.  The fire was reported in a second-floor storage room around 8:30 a.m., and it was brought under control quickly by the building's sprinkler system.

"This building is like holy ground," Dean said. "We've put so much work into it. When something happens, everybody swarms to the scene."

Comeau said the building has a history of fires and its sprinkler system has done its job each time.
"There have been three fires and all were controlled by the sprinkler system," he said. "We're very fortunate."
